Brigadier General (ret.) Ioannis Galatas, MD, MSc, MC (Army), is a Greek retired military physician specialized in Allergy and Clinical Immunology. Since 2001 he has been involved in CBRNE operations as planner and instructor trained (including live agent training) in a number of countries abroad. During 2004Athens Olympics, he served as Commandant of the Olympic Hospital CBRN Response Unit. He holds an MSc. in “International Terrorism, Organized Crime and Global Security” (Coventry University, UK) and he is a Ph.D. candidate (Athens Medical School). His last assignment was as Head of the Dept. of Asymmetric Threats, Joint Military Intelligence Service, Hellenic National Defense General Staff. Currently, he is the Editor-in-Chief of the monthly online “C²BRNE Diary”; a Senior Research Associate @ "Center for Security Studies" (KEMEA), Hellenic MoPublProt; a member of the Didactical Board of the University of Rome "Tor Vergata" for "International CBRNe Masters" programs (Levels I and II); a CBRN consultant @ Emergency Department, Gemelli Policlinico, Catholic University of Sacred Heart, Rome; the Manager of the CBRN Knowledge Center @ International CBNE Institute (Belgium) and Senior CBRN Consultant @ HotZone Solutions Group (The Netherlands).
